Alka-Seltzer
Have you ever had a stuffy stomach after you overindulged? No? Well, apparently it was a big problem in the late 60s and early 70s. Fortunately, Alka-Seltzer had the solution. Roy Grace and Evan Stark did great work on this premise, including one the greatest commercials of all time, “Spicy Meatball.”
Evan says people always say to him that their favorite line is “Meesy Micey Ballsy Balls” which he actually didn’t write. It was an actor adlib. The rest is all Evan’s though.
Another great Alka-Seltzer commercial Roy and Evan did was “Twins.” It had a very clever premise with a nice product-focused twist. As always, the casting was perfect. Witness the man’s sheer delight as he indulges, overindulges and re-indulges. Unfortunately, the clients changed during production and it only ran a couple of times. But it’s a favorite.
